Red Knots are back at Bunche, Plovers are doing well

Last weekend I stewarded the Little Estero CWA Friday morning, focusing on finding snowy plovers and Wilson's plovers, and watching their behavior since we are at the beginning of nesting season. In all, I saw 13 snowy plovers and 11 Wilson's plovers. I resighted a banded snowy plover (green left, blue over green on right). On Sunday I stewarded Bunche Beach and had a great volunteer turnout of five people! It was a foggy morning but we finally saw some red knots!

I was back at Bunche this morning to pick up trash in honor of World Water Day, and the red knots were still there! I saw about 15.

This weekend I will be stewarding at Bunche Beach at 8am on Sunday March 27. Hope to see you out there soon! -Robin -- Robin Serne
